Gabriel D. Nekrutman is a multi-instrumentalist (specializing in Saxophones), a public school educator, and performer hailing from Stony Brook, NY. He is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music and Long Island University. The Middle Country School District has employed Gabriel since October 2024 as a building substitute teacher, and he hopes to run a public school Band program soon. Gabriel will begin employment as the Lead Teacher for the Saxophone studio at the USDAN Summer Camp for the Arts in the summer session of 2025.

In addition, Gabriel has mentored music students who have played woodwinds, brass, and piano at the iSchool of Music in Syosset, NY, Brighton Music Maker Studios in Brighton, MA, the Berklee City Music Program, as well as within his private studio. An avid enthusiast of Jazz and Black American Music, Gabriel’s practice of the craft on his Saxophone has afforded him opportunities to perform at esteemed venues such as Dizzy's Club and Smalls Jazz Club in NYC, the D.C. Jazz Fest in Washington D.C. and the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, as well as to perform and record with some of the best of the best in the scene (Ralph Peterson Jr., Tia Fuller, Donald Harrison among others).

Gabriel studied with one of New York’s woodwind legends, Jeffrey Lange, while in high school. Spurred on by his participation in the 2013 NAfME All-National Jazz Ensemble, Gabriel began his undergraduate studies at the Berklee College of Music in Boston on a scholarship funded by the Gretsch Musical Instruments company between 2014 and 2019. At Berklee, he studied aspects of woodwind performance with Shannon LeClaire, George Garzone, Dino Govoni, Jim Odgren, and Harry Skoler. Additionally, Gabriel studied aspects of ensemble performance with master musicians such as Ralph Peterson Jr., Dave Santoro, Tiger Okoshi, and Bruno Rahberg.

Gabriel studied with Jeffrey Lederer, Dr. Jennifer Miceli, Richie Iacona, John Ray, and Dr. James McRoy at Long Island University while pursuing his Master of Science in Music Education between 2021 and 2024. Gabriel still pursues additional mentorship with master Saxophonists such as Gary Thomas, Nicholas Biello, Danny Janklow, and Todd Delguidice of the UNF Jazz Department, with most of these studies occurring over ZOOM.
